Whereas the Marvel movies seem to do little wrong, that’s not been the case for most of the DC films. Movies such as ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Justice League’ promised lots but didn’t really deliver. Now the search is on for yet another actor to play Batman but who will get the job?
Ben Affleck had already flopped as Daredevil, so he wasn’t too popular a choice when given the role of Batman. We never got to see him in a solo movie but the appearances he did make weren’t that bad.
A solo movie imaginatively titled ‘The Batman’ is due to hit the big-screens in June 2021. Villains may include The Penguin and Deathstroke but just who will replace Affleck in the title role remains a mystery.
From Mysterio to Batman?
Jake Gyllenhall is as low as 3/1 (4.0) at Coral to become the Caped Crusader. The talk is that the new movie will feature a younger version of the character and Gyllenhall is eight-years younger than Affleck. He’s already set for a big year playing the role of Mysterio in the new Spiderman movie.
Another leading contender is 39-year-old Oscar Isaac. Playing Batman would be a million miles away from his recent performance as Joseph in ‘The Nativity Story.’ He’s previously been in a Star Wars movie and an X-Men film so another superhero movie role is a possibility. He’s 13/2 (7.5) at SkyBet.
Second Time Lucky?
Armie Hammer is also strongly fancied to become the new big-screen Batman. He was due to play the role in a 2008 Justice League movie but it was never made. Hammer is only 32 and can be backed at 8/1 (9.0) to finally get to wear the cape.
Kit Harrington (also 32) and best known for playing Jon Snow in ‘Game of Thrones.’ That part of his career is over and he certainly knows how to play a hero. You can get 8/1 (9.0) at Betway.
