Sky Bet’s new executive team have taken action to promote socially responsible gambling by creating a new role focused on safer gambling policies and communication.

The company has created the new role of Head of Safer Gambling, and have installed Ben Wright, who has been at the company for many years, in the role.

In his new position, Wright will work with the company’s directors and a range of industry stakeholders as the company aims to implement new gambling and sustainability directives in 2019.

The promotion for Wright was approved by Executive Chairman Richard Flint, who said that in eleven years as Sky Bet trading director, Wright had shown an in-depth knowledge of the intricacies of the company’s betting practices and the needs of its customers:

“Ben knows the gambling business and most of all has a passion for this area. His focus is making things genuinely better and safer, not positioning or spin. I know Ben is keen to learn from those with real experience and a different perspective”.

The appointment of Wright is one of a number of changes at Sky Bet, introduced by the company’s new owners The Stars Group, which acquired the betting firm last October. The company’s former

Financial Officer Ian Proctor is due to take over as Chief Executive, and Conor Grant has been promoted to the position of Chief Operations Officer.
