Odds of 13/8 on Gómez Joining West Ham In this Transfer Window

West Ham United were big spenders in the 2018 summer transfer window but are still only tenth in the Premier League. With doubts over Marko Arnautovic staying at the club, another dip into the transfer market looks likely.

Arnautovic is likely to be on his way out of the club sooner or later. China is calling and with a massive weekly wage being offered, it’s likely he’ll be heading that way.  Whether that will happen in this transfer window or in the summer isn’t sure but expect plenty of transfer rumours in the next week or so.

More Firepower Needed

With the likelihood of his departure, the Hammers need a replacement. Arnautovic is their joint top scorer this season with eight goals. Not the greatest tally so they need to get their hands on someone who can score at least 20 a season.

That’s not the easiest of tasks of course and the lack of European football to play is a major problem. It looks as if they have their heart set on signing Maxi Gómez from La Liga side Celta Vigo. Gómez is only 22 so West Ham could get a fair few years out of the Uruguayan striker. He’s scored nine goals in 18 games for his club this season. That’s a decent return as Celta are a struggling side currently down in 17th place in La Liga.

Gómez scored 17 goals for Celta last season and in his club, career has managed 55 goals in 76 games.  Who wouldn’t have loved to see the game when he scored four goals in a 6-5 away win for his first club Defensor Sporting at El Tanque Sisley?

Record Signing?

It’ll take £43.3m to meet the release clause he has at Celta and he’s 13/8 at SkyBet to join West Ham in this transfer window. He’s been a long-term target for them with interest shown in the summer and the Hammers look keen to break their transfer record.
