Sports broadcaster NBC Sports Washington has revealed that it will be featuring in-play betting information on an alternative channel during the Washington Wizards game on Thursday.
The fixture will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Washington plus overflow channel, and will incorporate the same commentators and show as the regular feed. But the alternate broadcast will include a free-to-play prediction contest along with real-time betting data and analytics. The line data will feature win probability, game statistics and updated odds and point spreads.
Players will have the opportunity to predict game outcomes and player performance by tackling a series of question displayed throughout, with the chance to win a $500 prize.
Speaking about the new service, the Senior Vice President and General Manager at NBC Sports Washington, Damon Philips, said that it was a response to an increasing level of interest in betting on sport and would add to the entertainment for sports fans:
“Combining the excitement of live Wizards games with engaging predictive gaming and data feeds will deliver a very entertaining experience for viewers, from first-time gaming players to savvy sports bettors.”
The announcement from NBC comes after District of Columbia Council added amendments to the DC sports betting bill as the legalization of sports betting in the city moves closer. The amendments related to adjustments to the sports betting contract bidding process, which would favour the current DC Lottery provider Intralot. But DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has yet to sign or veto the betting bill.
