It was an a May Bank Holiday that Leicester City clinched the Premier League title. On Monday, they may possibly see Manchester City do the same. The home side simply need to win their two final games to retain their title but if Liverpool lose at Newcastle on Saturday evening, they can win the title one game early.
The quadruple has become the treble but it’s still been an outstanding season for Manchester City. They still can’t shake Liverpool off though and amazingly a return of 92 points from 36 games still hasn’t clinched the Premier League title.
City have won their last 12 league games but at the time of writing (3pm on Saturday May 4), they still find themselves only a point clear of Liverpool. The Reds are away at Newcastle United on Saturday evening and a win there will take them two points clear. Manchester City are 2/11 (1.22) at Ladbrokes to win the title.
At the end of the day though, it doesn’t matter what Jurgen Klopp’s men do if Manchester City win their final two games. Since that surprise defeat, they have won eight league games in a row scoring 21 goals and conceding just three. 56 home league goals have been scored, a total that is higher than all bar the top six have managed in all their games.
Pep Guardiola’s team aren’t just high scorers though. Their defending is top class too despite the injuries they have had to key players this season. Just 22 goals conceded and only Liverpool have conceded less with 20. Home form has seen Manchester City concede just 12 goals. They have kept clean sheets in four of their last five home league games. The odds on them doing that on Monday are 1/1 (2.0) at SkyBet.

Their away form has seen them win two of their last three. Wins at Burnley and Huddersfield Town were followed by a 2-2 draw at West Ham. They have won seven away league games this season but also lost seven. it’s a massive 18/1 (19.0) at Betfred that they win this match at the Etihad.

Manchester City will be without Kevin Du Bruyne with Fernandinho doubtful for the match. Their opponents are missing the injured Daniel Amartey.
Vardy in Form
Jamie Vardy is in top form at present and has scored eight goals in the last seven Premier League games. He’s 3/1 (4.0) at Unibet to score in this match and a rather tasty 12.0 (13.0) with Bet365 to get the first goal.
A Long Wait to End?

Manchester City are on a long winning run but their Champions League experience showed that just one loss can ruin their hopes. Failure to beat Leicester City could well cost them dearly and their opponents are in good form with a dangerous striker in Jamie Vardy. There are odds of 5/4 (2.25) at Paddy Power on Manchester City winning this game with both teams scoring.
