Genting Unveil Poker Series

The UK branch of the global Genting Group has announced details of its latest poker series, along with a number of changes to the format.

Genting UK revealed that the series will involve 17 poker events staged across England and Scotland, consisting of 13 mini-events along with four majors. All will be open to players of any ability and no qualifications are required. The major events will take place at the Genting casinos in Birmingham, Luton, Liverpool Queen Square and Edinburgh Fountain Park, and will offer a guaranteed prize pool of £100,000, and the smaller events, spread across numerous Genting properties, will offer a pool of £35,000 as well as nine seats at the major events.

In addition, all players who take part in one of the four major events will be automatically entered into a Genting prize draw with a holiday of the value of £10,000 to Malaysia, Singapore, Manila, New York or Las Vegas or the cash equivalent on offer to the winner.

Genting have made a number of changes for the format, including the introduction of a button ante structure for all of their events. When the button ante is activated, whichever player is on the button will pay the entire table’s ante, which it is hoped will speed up play. Each of the major events will also have an additional day one, which will be run according to a 40 minute clock rather than the usual hour clock, with the aim of making the tournament more accessible to working players.
