It was good and bad news for these sides in the weekend’s FA Cup ties. Derby County lost away at Brighton and Hove Albion to exit the tournament. Millwall made it to the last eight with victory at AFC Wimbledon. Now they return to the Championship and it’s Derby who desperately need the three points.
Latest Odds
Derby County’s FA Cup run is over, so now they can concentrate fully on making the promotion play-offs. Frank Lampard’s side are seventh in the table, a place and two points behind the final play-off position. They are currently 11/2 (6.5) at Betfred to win promotion but will have played a game more than sixth-placed Bristol City after this match.
County have 15 league games left and not until the final two of the season do they meet a team currently above them in the table. They are on an unbeaten run of four league games since a loss at Leeds United last month. At home, Derby are unbeaten in their last six league games and you can get 21/20 (2.05) at SkyBet on them winning this game and moving back into the top six.
Millwall are only one game away from an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley but needs points for different reasons. The Londoners are 20th in the Championship, two places and two points above the relegation zone. They have two games in hand on teams down at the bottom due to their cup run.
They are currently 12/1 (13.0) at Coral to be relegated to League One. Millwall may well have games in hand but the points need to be earned to keep them out of the bottom three. They have no wins in their last five league games but it’s their away form that is their major concern.
Millwall have only won one away league game all season and that was at bottom of the table Ipswich Town. There are odds of 3/1 (4.0) at Unibet that their second away league win will come at Pride Park.
Head-to-Head
Derby County have only lost one of their last five games against Millwall but the same record applies to Millwall v Derby. That was the reverse fixture this season back in August. Only one of Derby’s last eight home games against Millwall have been lost.
Derby County v Millwall Team News
No injury problems reported from the weekend fixtures.

Draw a Possibility
Three of the last five Derby County home league games have ended in a draw. As for Millwall, only one of their last four league matches hasn’t ended all-square. It’s 12/5 (3.4) at William Hill this match doesn’t produce a winner.
Both Teams to Score Looks Good
Millwall may struggle on their travels but they usually find a way of getting on the score sheet. They have managed to score in five of their last seven away league matches and both teams scored in each of them. In terms of Derby County home league games, only two of the last six have failed to see both teams hit the back of the net. Paddy Power are offering odds of 4/5 (1.8) on both teams scoring in this game.
Under 2.5 Goals?
Millwall haven’t been scoring that many goals of late which makes you wonder how they put three past Everton. Eight of their last nine league games have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. The 2-1 loss at Brighton on Saturday ended a run of four games in which there had been under 2.5 goals scored in Derby matches. A bet on that happening again on Wednesday has odds of 4/5 (1.8) at BetVictor.
Prediction
An important game for both sides as they return to Championship action. Derby have home advantage and that should be the key here. Millwall only have seven away league points all season. A bet on Derby winning with under 2.5 goals is 16/5 (4.2) at Betway.
