PNC Arena in Raleigh is known as a difficult gymnasium for an ACC opponent. It’s just not difficult enough to make the #3 ranked Virginia Cavaliers anything less than an 8-point favorite when UV travels to face #23 ranked North Carolina State on Tuesday night.

Moneylines for Tuesday night’s college hoops action have not yet been released at American sports betting sites as of Monday afternoon. However, the point spread tells it all. 8 points is a hefty amount considering the low-scoring results that Virginia and its opponents have put up throughout a 2018-19 season in which tony Bennett’s Cavaliers are again one of the most dominant defensive units in the NCAA.

MyBookie’s (-8) line on Virginia’s 7 PM EST tip-off with the NC State Wolfpack is paired with a (139.5) Over/Under point total. Virginia carries an 18-1 overall mark into the contest and has only lost to Duke in a 72-70 thriller.

Make no mistake, the Cavaliers are about more than just good defense. In a recent 81-59 win over a ranked Virginia Tech team, imposing UVA guard De’Andre Hunter played 36 minutes and scored 21 points with 5 rebounds. Virginia is too defense-conscious to crash the boards often, but when needed, the massive inside presence Jack Salt can produce blocks, rebounds, and missed lay-ups as forwards bounce off his 6’10” frame.

NC State cannot hope to match-up with UVA physically, but the Wolfpack roster is filled with crafty scorers who can run the floor. Veteran guard C.J. Bryce scored 15 points and gobbled 7 rebounds in NCSU’s 69-67 victory over Clemson on Saturday night, while sophomore Markell Johnson paced the team with 16 points.

The Wolfpack stand at 16-4 overall and should be in line for a March Madness bid.
