Both of these clubs were relegated from the English Premier League season. Back in the Championship they have already had a taste of how difficult it is going to be to win promotion back to the top flight of English football. Between them, they have already lost four league games. Fulham have made the better start and are fifth in the Championship, while their opponents are down in 14th.

Latest Odds

Cardiff City finished 18th in the Premier League last season. Their stay in the top division lasted just one season, just as it did for their opponents in this game. The odds on them being promoted back to the Premier League this season are 9/2 (5.5) if your bet is placed with Ladbrokes.

They didn’t have a mass exodus of players during the summer. Even so, the Welsh side haven’t made that consistent a start to their new season. Cardiff led 1-0 in their opening league game at Wigan Athletic. Even though the home side missed a second-half penalty, a goal 15 minutes from time gave Wigan a 3-2 victory.

Cardiff looked as if they were going to go two league games without a win. Their first home game of the season saw them host last season’s League One Champions Luton Town. Cardiff took the lead but the Hatters equalized in the 86th minute. The home side didn’t give up though and sealed the win with a 96th minute winner. It’s 21/20 (2.05) at Betway that the final goal in this match is scored between the 76th minute and full time.

Their poor away form reared its ugly head again as they lost 3-0 at Reading. The past two games have been an improvement though. They got another home win with a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield Town (the other of the sides relegated from the Premier League last season), this time with an 88th minute winning goal. Last weekend saw them earn their first away point of the season with a goalless draw at Blackburn. If you think they can win a third home league game in a row, the odds are 7/4 (1.75) at Coral.

Fulham had a nightmare season in the Premier League with goals aplenty conceded. They lost Ryan Sessegnon to Tottenham in the summer but kept Aleksandar Mitrovic. A good decision as he’s already scored four league goals this season. He’s 6/4 (2.5) at SportPesa to score on Friday evening.

They didn’t get off to a good start back in the Championship. Their opening league game saw them go down 1-0 at newly promoted Barnsley. The next three Championship games showed their potential though. They beat Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield Town and Millwall scoring nine goals in the process.

The weekend wasn’t so successful though as they lost at home to in-form Nottingham Forest. They are fifth in the Championship and a win at Cardiff will take them up to third.Only Preston have scored more goals than Fulham in the Championship and only leaders Leeds United conceded less. Fulham are 1/1 (2.0) at Betfair to win promotion this season.
