Cary Katz Takes Home the 2019 Aussie Millions Grand Prize and AU$1,481,760

Cary Katz is a professional poker player and renowned real estate dealer from the United States. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Georgia and headed up the College Loan Corporation, one of the largest in the country.

In the poker world, he is mostly known for being the founder of Poker Central, a website that gives players instant access to live games and scoring in HD. He also won the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure in 2018—his first ever tournament—earning him $1,492,340 million.

Katz Takes Home the ANTON Championship Ring

During the 2019 Aussie Millions, he defeated Johannes Becker from Germany, who came in 2nd place. They went head-to-head in a gritty standoff. What made Katz come out on top was a stroke of luck.

Once Katz got on a roll, he annihilated hands for two days straight. The total prize money that Katz won for the event was AU$1,481,760, along with an ANTON Championship Ring.

Large Attendance for This Year’s Event

There were many players in attendance this year—the highest ever in the 14-year history. Katz predicts that, “The turnout is going to be even better next year.” Many more high rollers will show up for the high-stakes poker games, making the pot amount increase to far greater amounts than before.

The buy-in amount alone for this event was a whopping $72,500. There were 42 entries from the biggest names in the industry for a total of about $3 million USD

Katz earned a total of $18.3 million over the years of playing the Aussie Millions. He says that, “[I’m] feeling pretty amazing. I got remarkably lucky, so I’m very grateful.”

Luck was definitely on his side, and paid off in a big way.
