Online betting company Betway has added to its horse racing sponsorship roster with a new deal to appoint the trainer Ross O’Sullivan and ex-jockey Katie Walsh as brand ambassadors.

O’Sullivan, who rode for Jessica Harrington during a successful amateur career, started to train horses in 2011. As brand ambassador for Betway, he will offer readers of the Betway Insider blog regular updates on the horses in his yard.

Walsh, who set a new record for a woman jockey in the Grand National, finishing third in the race in 2012, retired earlier this year, but will be offering her insights into the main meetings on the racing calendar, as well as the main racing stories of the moment.

Their most notable win was at the 2017 Punchestown Grand National Trial, when Walsh rode O’Sullivan’s stable star Baie Des Iles to victory. The seven-year-old is likely to run in the Welsh National at Chepstow this Christmas, with another attempt at the Grand National – for which Betway are the principal betting partners – likely in the spring.

Speaking about the brand ambassador appointments, Alan Alger of Betway said that both would add insight and unique perspective for Betway blog readers. O’Sullivan also said that he was looking forward to providing his thoughts and opinions on a range of racing issues, and was excited about his stable’s prospects for the remainder of the season:

“We’ve got a strong team of horses this year and we’re particularly looking forward to Baie Des Iles in the Welsh National at Chepstow next week.”
