Following yesterdays official announcement declaring her candidacy for the 2020 U.S. presidential nomination, Kamala Harris has overtaken fellow democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke on several betting markets.

Harris has long been a popular bet for the presidential race but her intention to run was not clarified until now. Often receiving odds close to that of O’Rourke from many bookies, she now benefits from a more definitive position.

However, despite the recent surge in popularity for both candidates, current U.S. President Donald Trump maintains strongest odds to win across all betting markets.

PredictIt currently has Harris at a 16 percent likelihood to win against O’Rourke’s 13 percent, with Trump receiving a strong 30 percent chance.

BetOnline, which yesterday had equal odds on O’Rourke and Harris, now offer 6/1 to Harris and 8/1 to O’Rourke.

Harris is also in number one position to win the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination on PredictIt, with a 21 percent chance over Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourkes 16 percent.

In the UK, bookies also appear to have favored Harris for the 2020 presidential race, with Ladbrokes and Coral offering impressive 5/1 odds. O’Rourke gets 6/1 odds from William Hill and Bet Victor and only 7/1 odds Skybet and Paddy Power. Trump again remains the favorite with 7/4 odds from Skynet, William Hill, and Bet Victor.

Harris doesn’t always feature in second place though, with Smarkets giving O’Rourke 12.2 percent odds and Harris only 10.2 percent.
